TDA’s Location

The academy and classroom are located, again, in one of Seattle’s history-filled buildings! As of 2022, TDA is in the same building as OnTheBoards and their Center for the Performing Arts in the Uptown (lower QueenAnne) neighborhood, 2 blocks from Seattle Center.

Our classroom is a spacious, light-filled hub of creativity, which includes an alcove with participant cubbies, classroom work area, a smaller 2nd room (office/meeting room), and more. The classroom layout is loosely divided into a variety of child-centered areas allowing kids to self-direct activities throughout the day.

Recess is an integral part of our daily activities. Nearby parks, including Artists-At-Play (next to MoPop) & Bayview/Kinnear Park (on the South Slope of QA) serve as our playgrounds.

Now located in the city’s Uptown Arts District, TDA has easy access to our neighborhood’s rich cultural & arts orgs, and are happy to strengthen our partnerships with several, including Theatre Puget Sound - where we’ve held Summer Camps and other programming.

Participants feel a strong sense of ownership over all these spaces as part of their academy & community, and especially the classroom; empowerment and responsibility are built into our unique philosophy so it’s understood to be their space & they are its stewards.
