Summer Camps

Join us for eight weeks of the best arts-based summer camps in Seattle! Dramatic role play, visual arts, fantasy, gaming, swordplay, and theater! Camps are for kids ages 4 – 14. Please see individual camp descriptions below for age guidelines by camp.

Many of our camps are a la carte: sign up for any combination of days or the whole week. All camps include outdoor time on our playground and onsite park.

2019 Summer Camp Sessions

Merit Badge Summer Camp (Full Week)

June 17 – 21
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 6 – 13
Fee: 305 for the week

One of TDA’s most popular camps is back by demand! New and traditional Merit badge accomplishments. Be prepared for wonder and the promise of achievement in this indoor and outdoor day camp! Members of our troop will share all the best parts of classic summertime camp: games, lanyard braiding/other handcrafts, hikes, bubbles, and more! Patrol around Cowen Park on scavenger hunts, field days, and obstacle courses. Earn practical skills, make crafts, and even hear some stories "around the campfire"! This camp’s motto emphasizes fun and friends, and you’ll learn a lot, too. Scout’s honor! Merit Badge camp additionally uses Cowan Park, 3 blocks north of TDA’s classroom.

Week at Hogwarts: Tri-Day Cup (3-day week or A la Carte)

July 1, 2, and 3 (no camp July 4 and 5)
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 6 – 12
Fee: 225 for the 3-day week or 75/day

From Platform 9¾, we will truly take an Express during this short week to visit Hogwarts at lightning speed for a great 3-day overview of our popular Magical Wizarding World camp! Featured highlights: find out our Houses with the Sorting Hat, recite spells, engage in role play, learn wandcraft, brew a potion, and maybe even play (Muggle) Quidditch! Each day this week, young witches and wizards will immerse themselves in the magical world of Harry, Hermione, Ron and the rest!

Week at Hogwarts: Buckbeak (FULL WEEK or A la carte)

July 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 6 – 12
Fee: 305 for the week or 75/day

Ride the Express from Platform 9¾, and enroll for the full week at Hogwarts with our usual enchanting cast of characters! We'll fly all over the grounds, find out our houses from the sorting hat, recite spells, engage in role play, learn wandcraft, brew potions, have dueling club, and even play (Muggle) Quidditch! Each day this week, young witches and wizards will immerse themselves in the magic world from JK Rowling’s imagination!

We’ve transfigured an additional session of this popular camp, Tri-Day Cup, July 1 – 3! But sign up soon, as we’re keeping camp sizes small!

Jedi Training: The Force Academy (Full week)

July 15 – 19
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 8 – 13
Fee: 305 for the week

Padawans will study under Jedi Masters Cory and Phoenix to learn the ways of the Force. This camp binds together theatre fun, the movie magic of prop building, movement, role play, stage combat (light-Saber) skills, and even a little history -of similar orders/codes like Bushido and Chivalry! Then, prepare for a final battle to defeat the Dark Side! Open to previously-trained knights who want to Return to the Jedi, as well as those beginners who want to take their first step into a larger world!

Showstoppers! (Full Week)

July 22 – 26
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 6 – 11
Fee: 305 for the week

Kids will be stars of the stage! Young artists will grow their confidence and let their imaginations soar as we act and perform a song and dance! Games, recess, teamwork, and theatre production design practice are part of setting this stage too! Educators are experienced professionals in the arts (our lead is MJ Jurgensen, a touring cast member of Village Theatre’s hit Matilda!) Kids may work on songs and music from Broadway musicals, theme songs, and more! Come step into the spotlight and join our cast!

Week at Hogwarts: Prefect Academy (FULL WEEK)

July 29 – August 2
9:30 am – 2:30 pm
Ages: 9 – 14
Fee: 305 for the week or 75/day

Specifically designed for older students with Hogwarts knowledge and experience, Prefect Academy casts your child as a member of the elite upper years at Hogwarts! This camp takes wizarding magic, as well as duties and magical danger, to a whole new level! This training includes advanced potion making, dementor attacks, care of magical creatures, and OWL level spell work. This enchanting camp is perfect for older witches and wizards! (Be sure to check out our other Week-at-Hogwarts camps starting July 1 and July 8.)

Magic TG Camp: Afternoon BattleClub (Half days, full week or a la carte)

July 29, 30, 31, and Aug 1, 2
1 – 4 pm
Ages: 8 – 14
Fee: 225 for the week or 75/day

Take the next step in your training—you’ve learned all the tricks, cards, strategies—now play non-stop duels (games) each day! Deck building and efficient construction methods review, then, “Time to Duel!” (expert Magic:TG mentor guides and guest artists available to advise and referee)! Also: Experiment with different "official" styles of gameplay (Standard, Legacy, Commander, etc—generally, non-Limited formats). Then we’ll intro and use some of the best player-created game formats, which may include Two-Headed Giant, Cube, and ManaRush!

Note: Campers will start the afternoon at Three Dragons, then walk a block up the street to play and learn inside local Comic and Games store, The Dreaming, 1 block north of TDA! (Be sure to check out our other Magic: TG starting August 12.)

Magic TG Camp: Learn, Build, Trade, Duel! (Full week or A la carte)

August 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16
9:30 am –2:30 pm
Ages: 8–14
Fee: 305 for the week or $75/day

This is both an intro to the game Magic: The Gathering as well as a way to further master your skills. We'll create unique spells and creatures, appreciate artwork as well as learn some skills to make our own Magic card art, and playtest newly dreamed-up spells, planeswalkers, and rules in real gameplay! Guest players/assistants and guest artists pepper the week to help us create artwork, spells, artifacts, sorceries, and more. Campers attending at least one day plus Fri will personally tailor and take home their own customized Magic deck! Note: Magic: TG camps might also include field trips and play at local gaming and comics store, The Dreaming, 1 block north of TDA. (Be sure to check out our other Magic: TG starting July 29.)
